Area Agency on Aging and HICAP
Central Coast Commission for Senior Citizens serves senior citizens and family caregivers with HICAP, Senior Connection and Area Agency on Aging services. HICAP provides free assistance to Medicare beneficiaries about Medicare and related issues. Senior Connection provides specialized information & referral for senior citizens. Area Agency on Aging sponsors the Senior Resource Directory and Vial of Life programs.
Center for Successful Aging

The Center for Successful Aging has five programs:

  • Senior Peer Counseling offering individual and group counseling to seniors and their families,
  • CareLine – a Telephone Service where free calls are made to seniors limited to their home,
  • Pet Therapy where dogs provide companionship to seniors,
  • Real Help- pairing seniors needing home services to vetted providers
  • Successful Aging-the only senior newspapers serving seniors in the greater Santa Barbara area.
Family Service Agency

Family Service Agency (FSA) offers several different programs for seniors and their families: the Long Term Care Ombudsman (advocacy for people living in long-term care residential facilities), Senior and Caregiver Mental Health Counseling (individual, family, and group support), and the Senior Expo of Santa Barbara (the largest annual health fair for older adults and their families in the County).

Independent Living Resource Center

The Independent Living Resource Center, Inc. (ILRC) offers assistance to individuals who have any type of disability, we are a resource center who refers or helps individuals with disabilities with housing, benefits, assistive technology, personal care assistance at home, communication access with our American sign language registry and we also help transition individuals from Skilled Nursing Facilities to live on their own in the community with needed assistance. We serve the Tri-Counties with offices in Ventura, Santa Barbara, Santa Maria and San Luis Obispo. If you need assistance please contact us.

The Long Term Ombudsman Program of Santa Barbara serves the residents in the Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living Facilities in the Santa Barbara County. The mission for the Ombudsman Program is to advocate for the rights of the residents, resolve conflicts, investigate abuse and make sure residents have quality of life. Skilled Nursing & Respite Care

CenCal Health Case Management Department

Adult case-management services are provided by registered nurses, social workers, and transitional care coordinators in two languages, English and Spanish. We coordinate care for members who have complex medical or behavioral health conditions; high psychosocial risk factors; and/or need assistance navigating through the health care system.

 The Pediatric Unit Program (PUP) is designed as a “one-stop shop” to obtain covered services through prior authorization requests and case-management for children and youth under the age of 21 who do not have a CCS eligible condition.

Coast Caregiver Resource Center
Supporting families and other unpaid caregivers of adults with brain impairments and of older adults with disabling conditions. Serving Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Ventura counties. Providing resource help, emotional support, and/or respite care, depending on which county the caregiver resides in. Se Habla Espanol. Find out more here
Cottage Health Parish Nursing Program
Cottage Health Parish Nursing Program is sponsored by the St. Francis Foundation and provides services to our community at specific community locations working with several community partners. Our Nurses serve at 4 Homeless Shelters, at PathPoint Behavioral Health program, Catholic Charites, 5 Senior Housing facilities, 6 churches and we also provides many low or no cost flu clinics and health screenings in the community.
Visiting Nurses & Hospice Care

Visiting Nurses & Hospice Care Serving Santa Barbara, Lompoc and the Santa Ynez Valley; located at 512 Gutierrez Street in existence since 1908.  The Following are the services that VNHC currently provides:

Hospice Care, Home Health which include Physical Therapy, Occupational and Speech Therapy; TeleHealth Care, Loan Closet, Personal Care Services, Inpatient Hospice Care at Serenity House; Palliative Care, Integrative Therapies and Bereavement Support, Volunteer Services, Care Management and Senior Health and Safety Assessment that is free of charge.  VNHC also has a Foundation which assists those community members who do not have any insurance coverage.

As a nonprofit health care organization, our mission is to provide compassionate and trusted care for all.  We are able to fulfill our charitable mission thanks to the generosity of so many who donate and volunteer.

Easy Lift Transportation
Easy Lift Transportation provides wheelchair accessible transportation to all of south Santa Barbara County, spanning from Winchester Canyon to Carpintaria. Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara

Mission:
The Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara is a local public agency created under state law for the purpose of providing safe, decent, and quality affordable housing and supportive services to eligible persons with limited incomes, through a variety of federal, state, local and private resources.

Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels has been delivering hot, nutritious and freshly prepared meals to our homebound and elderly clients since 1971. Our 85 volunteer drivers deliver approximately 2,700 meals a month. We deliver 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including all weekends and holidays.”

The Santa Barbara Public Library provides information services, programming and equal access to materials for all residents of the Santa Barbara area in order to promote reading and lifelong learning. All of our services are free of charge.
Senior Center Without Walls
Senior Center Without Walls is an award-winning program offering activities, education, friendly conversation, and an assortment of classes, support groups, and presentations to seniors.  Each week, seniors can access over 70 groups by phone or online, all from the comfort of home.

End of Life Care

Compassion & Choices
Compassion & Choices provides free bilingual (English/Spanish) information and presentations on options for end of life care, how to access California’s new medical aid in dying law, the End of Life Option Act, and strategies for having important conversations with your doctor. Hospice of Santa Barbara

Hospice of Santa Barbara offers three specific programs: (1) Bereavement Counseling – Individual and Group, (2) Patient Care Services, and (3) Community Education and Engagement Program.

The counseling is provided by trained and experienced counselors. They provide grief counseling to children, teens and adults in English and Spanish. There are a variety of support groups based on topic. The Patient Care Services program at Hospice of Santa Barbara is a relationship based approach to supportive medical care. This program will serve patients in any stage of a life threatening illness or those in active medical treatment along with their family and caregivers.

The purpose of this program is to assist the patient and their families manage the impact of their medical condition by providing Medical Social Work, Spiritual Care, and Volunteer Services in the home. The Community Education and Engagement Program offers training and workshops on all topics covering End of Life. All of our services are free of charge.

Support Centers

Alzheimer’s Association
The Alzheimer’s Association, California Central Chapter, is headquartered in Santa Barbara and was founded 33 years ago. Our Chapter serves families caring for people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias in Santa Barbara, Ventura, San Luis Obispo and Kern counties. We educate, train and provide additional critical services to these families, and we work closely with local agencies to meet clients’ needs for medical, housing and legal resources.  Our goal is to provide support to all those affected by dementia, and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
Jodi House Brain Injury Support Center
Jodi House Brain Injury Support Center is the only non-profit organization in Santa Barbara that provides exclusive service to adult victims of traumatic brain injuries, strokes, aneurysms, and tumors. We provide a day program, including support groups, art therapy, music classes, speech therapies, community outings, and vocational training programs, all of which are designed to help brain injury survivors strengthen their physical and cognitive skills with a goal of successful community reintegration. We also provide one-on-one case management services in order to help brain injury survivors achieve their unique goals following their injuries. We are proud to help brain injury survivors return to work, secure housing for homeless or at-risk members, and retrain healthy living skills so that they can achieve the most meaningful quality of life possible.
Santa Barbara Response Network (SBRN)

The Santa Barbara Response Network (SBRN) is a grassroots community organization dedicated to offering Psychological First Aid (PFA) and provide support for resilient recovery from traumatic events in the community such as:

  • Attempted or completed suicides
  • Violent injuries and deaths
  • Natural disasters
  • Or other traumatic events.
